What Would It Take

on April 1, 2014

There is a group of about 250 nurses in Nova Scotia that have gone on strike. A large percentage of them work in surgery and dialysis units. They are striking because there is legislation being presented; get this, to take away their right to strike. When you search the Web, there are bold links with titles like “Heart Surgeries Cancelled Because Nurses Are on Strike”

It makes me wonder — what would drive you to go on strike? Cut your family’s income in half? Take you to that place in your head, come on, you know it would, where you squelch a little bit of guilt that some patient is dealing with an agency nurse who doesn’t know where to find anything on the unit.

I’d suck it up and clock in.

Where do you draw the line when you wake up and make that decision about going to work?

I’ve blogged for a year, made this a site to share little anecdotes ( some funny, some tender, some a tiny, tiny, bit lascivious in humor)and a little bit of politics in the news as it relates to the nursing profession. Anyone want to respond? Anyone, Bueller, Bueller ? Bueller here today?
