Oh, Miss Behar – What a Silly Thing You Did!

on September 16, 2015

Standing in the Seattle airport last Saturday, waiting to get through the check point, I hear the “ping” of a received message on my phone. Facebook, email. I don’t have the sounds figured out. I look either way.

It’s a Facebook notification. Hmm, those aren’t usually personalized to me.

I tap the pad anyway. It’s from my older sister.

It’s the Miss Colorado monologue.

Ah, she knows me so well.

I beam with pride as I listen to it.

Now I’m hearing all about Joy Behar and Michelle Collins of “The View” making ignorant comments and the backlash they have received. I also heard about their lackluster apology.

I’m not going to waste energy getting mad at them. The National Nurses Association, handfuls of nurses savvy with online media, and thousands of others have given them the spanking they needed.

I did get on Twitter and add Miss Kelley Johnson to my follow list. She spoke with honesty and sensitivity about a part of her life that has shaped who she is.

I want to see what she does next!
